Hamster on the Loose! Catzilla at Large
Just when I think I’m on a roll, happily blogging and trying to explore my possibilities on the Internet, I hear a klunk-bang and a crashing thud. I get up to see what is the matter and there on the floor in the middle of the kids playroom is the hamster cage, bedding strewn across the floor. I quickly look around for the source of the unexpected demolition and discover what the kids call “catzilla” making a hasty exit from the room. Rather than hunt down the cat, I begin searching for my daughter’s little hamster, Magenta.
Magenta is a dwarf hamster who is rather sluggish. In this particular instance I am thankful for that fact. Rousing that little hamster is a little difficult for the kids and I think that she may be part oppossum (wink!). I quickly look through the multi-colored tubes strewn within a 3 foot radius of the cage, my heart beating frantically. Finally, I find the little critter and find her pudgy little gray body wedged in a t-tube. What a relief! If the cat had eaten my daughter’s pet, well, you know how easy that is to explain…
After about 15 minutes, I finally reassembled the hamster hideaway and firmly duct taped it to the coffee table. I even go so far as to duct tape some of the tubes so there is no chance the cat will strike again under cover of darkness. (By the way, there is such a thing as clear duct tape, so it isn’t totally ugly).
The cat is still skulking around, somewhere. Rosebud is the cats real name, and she is Siamese if that helps to explain her behavior. Maybe I should start writing short stories about cats and hamsters…
Until tomorrow friends!

This is a cute story! I had hamsters when I was growing up. Luckily they didn’t get out. I am glad you found the hammy and it was unharmed.
Thanks for dropping by! My daughter was pleased, to say the least.
Hee hee! If you want adventure in your life you need kids and critters! I’ve had cats and a pet gerbil (my daughter’s) who came close to a mishap a time or two. I’ve also had a Siamese cat - so no need to explain further! BTW - thanks for the Lemonade Award nomination!
